If you're taking good care of your skin, you may already know that you should liberally apply sunscreen to all exposed parts of your body when spending time outdoors. Face, ears, shoulders, arms, legs and even feet need protection from potentially harmful UV rays.
It's especially important to pay attention to the feet if you're at the pool or beach, as it's likely that you'll be dipping your tootsies in for a refresher. This washes away protective SPF, and many people neglect to re-apply.
A sunburn below the ankles is more than just a pain in the feet, as it may increase the risk of skin cancer. Few people perform close examinations of the moles on their feet, and so suspicious spots may go unnoticed until a carcinoma has advanced.
As such, for healthy feet this summer, you should remember to wear supportive, well-fitted shoes, clean your toes regularly and remember to apply – and re-apply – sunscreen.
