US Weekly magazine recently featured images of Beyonce, who is five months pregnant, wearing a pair of Alain Quilici booties with a five-inch heel. The interesting footwear was designed to look like an ice skate, hence the name Payson Skate Lace-Up Booties.
"The most unique attribute of the ankle-high boot shoes: the heel and toe are bridged by a one-inch platform, thus creating the look of an ice skate," according to US magazine.
Not only do these shoes look like a surefire recipe for bunions, but they retail for a whopping $1,180, according to the news source.
According to the Ankle and Foot Center in San Francisco, being pregnant puts a big strain on the feet, which may put pressure and stress on the tendons and ligaments that connect bones.
This means a higher risk of fallen arches and bunions. Add to the mix high heels, and you've got a pop star with a very high chance of developing bunions, hammer toe or fallen arches.
Luckily, Beyonce may not need to go under the knife, as bunion splints or orthotics have been shown to help correct the foot conditions without surgery.
